Last year’s second Call for Ideas was a complete success. A total of 10 innovative project ideas were received. A selection of 8 projects were subsequently allowed to take part in the pitch session and provide a deeper insight into the idea. The management team of the performance centre then analysed the ideas in detail and selected the most promising project ideas, which will receive funding of up to \u20ac100,000 over 6 months. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Here is a brief overview of the projects: <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

3D-iPackAssist<\/span><\/b>
\nThe aim of developing the “3D-iPackAssist” is to make the packing workstation more intelligent with the help of 3D sensor technology. Depth cameras are designed to support the employee by analyzing and validating the packing process, thereby ensuring the quality of the packed consignment. In addition, the sensor technology enables master data to be recorded directly at the workstation and data-based optimizations to be made based on this, such as the total volume dispatched.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

ADaPT<\/span><\/b>
\nControlling production and logistics processes while flying blind – unfortunately, this is a common reality in both medium-sized and large companies. In the ADaPT transfer project, the RIOTANA\u00ae tool is being further developed in order to evaluate the effects of events such as order changes, machine malfunctions or deviating personnel availability in real time using simulation. This enables companies to achieve adaptive process control – with an overview of the entire production system.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Cloud-based CCM ecosystem<\/span><\/b>
\nThe project Cloud-based Collaborative Condition Monitoring (CCM) Ecosystem deals with the development of a cloud-edge architecture for distributed digital twins using the example of the CCM of the Industry 4.0 platform. In particular, data sovereignty needs to be integrated to enable the secure sharing of data between participants within a CCM ecosystem.<\/span>

\n<\/span>Sustainalyze<\/span><\/b>
\nCurrent legislation requires a large number of companies to disclose their sustainability-related data or to report to suppliers and partners through supply chain commitments. Due to a lack of data, many companies run the risk of fact-based reports deteriorating into idealised advertising copy. Sustainalyze’s vision is to develop intelligent text recognition software that can read and semantically recognise sustainability reports and make information comparable. It is intended to provide a completeness analysis and plausibility check. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>SustainPack<\/span><\/b>
\nWhen assessing the sustainability of packaging, complex systems must be modelled that often have similarities to each other and favour a standardised approach. Remodelling them each time is time-consuming and limits the comparability of the results. The SustainPack project is standardising the sustainability assessment of packaging by developing an expert tool. This makes project implementation more efficient and customers benefit from a reproducible and streamlined consulting process.<\/p>\n

<\/span>TREND – Tracability Enforcement of Datatransfers<\/span><\/b>
\nThe project<\/span> Tracability Enforcement of Datatransfers<\/span> (TREND) is intended to address current challenges in the implementation of data sovereignty. The aim is to integrate state-of-the-art digital watermarking technologies in the metadata of the data records to be exchanged and to verify and enforce them at various protocol levels. This enables system-independent sovereignty checks to protect the security and privacy of the data owner.<\/p>\n

<\/span>SND – Sustainable Network Design<\/span><\/b>
\nWe have all just learned that dependence on one resource quickly leads to bottlenecks in the supply chain. However, it is difficult to evaluate alternatives. The conflict of objectives between greater delivery capability through diversification and rising costs has not yet been resolved. <\/span>“SND” will make resilient networks predictable and thus ensure the availability of products even if critical resources or network nodes fail.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
